What is Digital Radiography?

Recent advances in digital radiography have made it a good time to join in the “digital age” of dentistry. Just as with digital cameras, this technology allows us to do away with film and messy chemicals, and gives us instant access to images. We are able to see pathology more clearly and in less time. Best of all we are able to significantly reduce radiation exposure to patients another 40 to 80 percent. This is a great benefit and service to our patients. Digital radiography enables us to enhance images for better diagnostics, to improve communication with other practitioners by e-mailing images to specialists or to insurance companies and to increase patient education capabilities allowing them to see an x-ray on a 19-inch screen to better understand problems and options. Also, going digital integrates better with a patient's electronic record and charting-no more looking for charts and x-ray films. Everything is right there for instant access and convenience for the patient and the dental professional.

We can enthusiastically say that digital radiography has improved our practice and our service to our patients.
